Academic language is very important for future teachers to know for their classrooms.  With my career goal as becoming a teacher, knowing this academic language is very beneficial. What is academic language you may ask? Academic language is the language that is used in the everyday classroom, textbooks, and is also used on test. The words that qualify as academic language stand out because they are not commonly used words of the spoken English language. Therefore, it is extremely important for students and teachers to have knowledge of these words in order to understand what is being asked of them.  Some examples of academic language are words like evaluate, sequence, construct, explain, and predict.
